Hiddekel / Tigris River

Hiddekel / Tigris (River)

Hid-Dekel or Dekel-Hid or Djekel Idjit

The Adrar Plateau near Atar is rich in gorges like the oued el Abiod.

Most of these gorges empty into the Seguellil wadi bed resulting in a string of pools and intermittent streams.

The river gets lost in the sands north of the western foothills of the Adrar Plateau.

Possibly the  Sequellil Abiod

20 km south of Atar is the controversial Seguellil-dam, inaugurated in 2019.

The map's title, "Carte Générale de l'Afrique d'après les dernières découvertes" (General Map of Africa according to the latest discoveries), indicates it was created to reflect the most current geographical knowledge available at the time.
It was published in Paris, France, around 1880, a period of intense European exploration and colonization of the continent.

"Djekel" and "Dekel" are alternative spellings or mild variations of the Norwegian word for "devil" (djevel or dævel), used as a mild expletive or swear word.
These terms are considered less intense forms of the curse words related to the devil, such as jævel or faen (fanden)
