Nachal (River)

NACHAL & NAHAL

"Nachal" in Hebrew means "stream" or "creek". However, it's also a term used for a unique framework within the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), which combines military service with civilian service in a new kibbutz or moshav.

THE NACHUL RIVER 

In Hebrew, "nachal" (נַחַל) literally translates to "stream" or "creek".

It can also refer to a "valley" or a "place where water flows".

נחל nachal, a primitive root meaning, “to receive an inheritance.” The 3-letter root is nun + chet + lamed.  

 

nun נ ,ן  = the seed, thus continue, heir, son

chet ח  = the wall, thus outside, divide, half 

lamed ל  = the shepherd’s staff, thus teach, yoke, to, bind

The heir (nun) receives what has been divided (chet) to him by his father (lamed).

Pronunciation of "Nachal"

The pronunciation of "Nachal" in English is typically nah-chal or nuh-khal. The emphasis is on the first syllable. The word is a transliteration of the Hebrew word "נַחַל" (nah-chal), which has the same pronunciation. 

 

 Nachal also means palm-tree meaning dubious! 

 

Nachul / Nuchal and the Aitheopian Horse

Nuchal means the nape or back of the neck or the withers or shoulders of a map horse like Pegasus or Odin's Horse Sleipnir.  These horses represent geological features on Ancient West African Aithiopian Maps!
